H&R Block Releases Android Tax-Filing App

H&R Block has released a tax prep and electronic filing app for Google Android-based smartphones and tablets.

The H&R Block At Home Android app, which joins ones already released by Block for the Apple iPhone and iPad, are free to download and can be used to prepare a free simple 1040EZ federal tax return and a free state tax return through April 17.

Using the smartphone app, filers can complete a federal 1040EZ and state return by photographing their W-2 to automatically import data into the app. Generally, a 1040EZ filer is a single or married taxpayer who does not itemize deductions, has no dependents, and earned less than $100,000 last year.

In addition to the 1040EZ form, filers with more complex tax returns can complete a federal 1040 or 1040A form on the iPad tablet app at no cost all season.
