UHY merges in JVTR

UHY, a Top 50 Firm based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, is expanding its footprint in the state by adding Jansen Valk Thompson Reahm PC, a firm with offices in Kalamazoo and Dowagiac, effective Oct. 25, 2022.

The deal adds 32 team members to UHY, including three partners. UHY has 1,400 team members, 145 of whom are partners. 

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. UHY ranked No. 29 on Accounting Today's 2022 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $220 million in revenue at the end of 2021. 

JVTR has been in business since 1994, serving individuals, families, trusts, public corporations, private companies and nonprofit organizations in Michigan.  

"Our firm has enjoyed significant growth over the past 28 years because of our talented team and wonderful clients," said JVTR managing partner Jim Valk in a statement Thursday. "Joining UHY allows us to provide expanded services and resources to better serve our clients and additional opportunities for our employees. There is great chemistry between the two firms and a strong alignment and vision for the future."

The Kalamazoo and Dowagiac offices will join UHY's Great Lakes Region. The firm already has more than 550 employees in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Port Huron and Sterling Heights, Michigan.

UHY managing director Scott Miller was instrumental in arranging the JVTR merger. "UHY is thrilled to add a presence in West Michigan and have aligned with such an exceptional firm," he said in a statement.  "UHY's strategic plan includes continued expansion within our existing markets as well as targeted new markets throughout the country."

UHY has combined with several firms this year, including LWBJ and TGM in January and Stoy Malone in May. More mergers for UHY are expected to be announced in the coming months.
