Kuesel launches biz dev training program

With bringing on new clients increasingly being seen as a responsibility for all levels of employees at accounting firms, Kuesel Consulting is launching the new jvDB Academy to introduce younger staff to business development.

The virtual training program aims to give young accountants a “starter” education in a comprehensive range of topics related to finding and securing new business, including relationship building, advisory thinking, cross-serving, client referrals, referral source development and networking, among other areas.

“This program was designed to be a starter for anyone curious about the power of business development,” founder and CEO Art Kuesel said in a statement. “It has also attracted numerous participants seeking a refresher of business development concepts later in their career.”

The program uses 13 video-based content modules, ranging from 12 to 55 minutes each, to teach the concepts. All the modules are available on demand, so students can set their own pace. They also receive assignments and coaching from facilitators at their firm, who receive facilitator guides to host conversations after each module.

The current offering is based on a pilot that involved over a dozen accounting firms and almost 100 staff members, according to Kuesel.

“While the primary objective for participants is positive habits and momentum in business development, some participants are leap-frogging their peers and bringing new clients in the door,” he said in a statement. “Participant feedback continues to be positive and I am focused on bringing this valuable program to more firms in 2019 and 2020.”
