Weaver Adds Partner and Industry Practice Leaders

Brett Siegfried has joined Weaver as a partner in assurance services in the firm’s San Antonio office, and the firm also added industry practice leaders in several of its other Texas offices.

Siegfried brings more than 16 years experience in accounting, including financial analysis, financial and divisional management, as well as SEC reporting and filings, internal audit procedures, internal consulting, U.S. GAAP/IFRS compliance, due diligence analysis, variance reporting, analysis, enterprise risk assessments and Sarbanes-Oxley implementation. His practice focuses on finance/accounting management, internal controls evaluations, budgeting/forecasting and capital request analysis and approval.

The firm also recently announced that John J. Mackel III of the Houston office will oversee all of the firm’s industry practices. Mackel was previously the leader of Weaver’s energy services practice, which he helped grow by more than 300 percent since assuming the role in 2007. He has 15 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to the oil and gas, renewable energy and financial services industries.

The firm also appointed a set of industry leaders. Kevin A. Sanford of the Houston office will lead financial services. Mark D. Walker of the Fort Worth office will head manufacturing, distribution and retail. Melvin F. “Trey” Hunt will be in charge of the oil and gas practice. Jerry L. Gaither of the Dallas office will lead the public sector practice.

Andrew J. Freundlich of the Dallas office will head the real estate and construction practice; Wade L. Watson of the Houston office will oversee the renewable and energy compliance practice, and Gregory L. Bailes of the Austin office will lead the technology practice.
