Baker Tilly Virchow Krause has elected Alan Whitman to serve as CEO upon the completion of Timothy Christen’s term in June 2016.

In the newly created role, Phil Wilson is responsible for overseeing all client services and business operations in the firm’s California offices.

Tunis has over 25 years of partner-level expertise with privately-owned businesses in the tri-state area, providing services to importers, wholesalers, manufacturers and internet retailers.

The Financial Accounting Foundation, has named Jan Sylvis, the chief of accounts for the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, as vice chair of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.

Michael Balter has joined Marcum LLP as partner-in-charge of the firm’s Florida Region. He additionally serves as partner-in-charge of Assurance Services for the Florida Region and also has joined the firm’s executive committee.

Walter Davenport has been elected as the new chair for The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy board of directors. Davenport, along with a slate of newly elected board members, was installed into office during NASBA’s 107th Annual Meeting.

Van Hook was recognized at the SCACPA Women in Leadership Conference in Columbia, S.C. She was one of three honorees in the Experienced Leader category, which recognizes CPAs who hold leadership positions within their firm and have made significant contributions to the accounting profession, their workplaces and their communities.
