Firms named to Working Mother's 2019 'Best Companies'

Working Mother magazine published the 2019 list of its "100 Best Companies" on Tuesday, with a number of top accounting firms, including the Big Four, included.

The list, which recognizes companies that look to provide new parents with "inclusive benefits for families, including gender-neutral leave, gradual phase-back after parental leave, and accessible, affordable childcare," was constructed using over 400 questions polling businesses on their workplace benefits, leave policies, flexibility policies, childcare options and more.

Deloitte, EY and KPMG were recognized as "Top 10" companies on the 2019 list, with all Big Four firms also being highlighted as "Hall of Fame" organizations who have been featured on Working Mother's Top 100 Companies list for at least 15 years.

The full list of included accounting and finance firms, in alphabetical order, are as follows:

  • BDO USA
  • Deloitte
  • EY
  • Grant Thornton
  • KPMG
  • Moss Adams
  • PwC
  • RSM USA

Working Mother further broke down its Top 100 companies by subcategories, recognizing honorees for specific areas of achievement. Deloitte was named a best company for "Paid Time Off," KPMG for "Recruitment, Retention and Advancement," Deloitte and KPMG for "Flexibility" and KPMG for "Company Culture."

The publication also honored a "Working Mother of the Year" from companies featured on its Top 100 list, who were asked to share advice on how to best be a working parent. Working Mothers of the Year for accounting and finance firms include:

  • (BDO USA) Maggie Gilmore, tax managing director;
  • (Deloitte) Casey Giovanelli, tax senior manager;
  • (EY) Udanda Clark, partner, assurance services, financial services organization;
  • (Grant Thornton) Angelica Roiz, partner;
  • (KPMG) Stacy Meller, tax managing director;
  • (Moss Adams) Jennie Ly, assurance senior manager; and
  • (RSM US) Michele Devito, senior director.
